Strategic capital preparation for companies

A financing case built to withstand scrutiny.

Zumsteg Consulting prepares companies for financing discussions with investors, family offices and institutional counterparties. Across three connected phases, we structure the project, develop investor-ready documentation and prepare the organisation for due diligence and external communication before outreach begins.

Where preparation begins

Financing discussions expose weak structure.

Investors, family offices and institutional counterparties assess a company from a different perspective than its management. They need to understand quickly how the financing project is structured, how the capital will be used, and whether the figures, assumptions and documentation remain consistent under closer scrutiny.

This is where preparation becomes demanding. Financial data, forecasts, contracts, project information and management input must form a coherent picture. Critical questions need to be anticipated, and the communication has to follow a clear structure.

Zumsteg Consulting puts these foundations in place before the project goes into investor outreach.

  • Capital requirement and use of funds

The capital requirement alone convinces no investor. What matters is whether it is clear how much capital is required, how it will be used, and how the financing fits the project as a whole. An unclear use of funds or an inconsistent structure raises questions early.

  • Figures and plausibility

Investors read figures in context. Annual accounts, current financial data, planning and forecasts must correspond to the investment case and to the actual status of the project. Contradictions and unexplained assumptions surface at the latest under closer scrutiny.

  • Documentation and due diligence readiness

A pitch deck is only part of the review. Contracts, corporate structure, financial information, project material and supporting evidence must be available, consistent and easy to locate. The better that basis is prepared, the more quickly an external counterparty can form a view.

  • Management and communication

Documentation is not the only thing assessed. Investors want to understand who leads the company, how decisions are justified, and how management handles critical questions. A strong presentation loses its effect as soon as answers, figures and messages no longer align.

All of this has to come together before the first investor discussion. That is why a mandate runs in three connected phases.

Our service model

Three phases. One mandate.

A mandate runs in three connected phases, each building on the work of the previous one: strategic and organisational groundwork, then investor-ready documentation, then the preparation and support of the investor outreach phase.

Select a project phase

Foundation Transition Communication phase

Phase 01 / 03

Strategy and project structure

Objective

Establish a basis solid enough to carry the rest of the mandate: in substance, in organisation and in the systems behind it.

Services

  • Current position, objective and capital requirement
  • Intended use of funds and existing financing arrangements
  • A read of the existing documentation and what is missing
  • Responsibilities, CRM pipeline and follow-up

Result

A clear project roadmap: the information in order, responsibilities defined, and a reliable working basis for the documentation phase.

Phase 02 / 03

Documentation and due diligence readiness

Objective

Work the existing company and project information into a consistent, verifiable basis for external discussions and closer review.

Services

  • Investment case and a storyline that holds throughout
  • Pitch deck, executive summary and key-figure overviews
  • Information hierarchy, argument and consistency of every figure
  • Due diligence preparation and the questions that come back

Result

A complete, consistent and professionally produced set of documents for financing discussions and closer review.

Phase 03 / 03

Go-live and investor outreach

Objective

Take the prepared project into investor outreach and keep the running steps coordinated.

Services

  • A readiness check before anything goes out
  • First approaches, follow-ups and communication sequences
  • Approval of recipients, content and documents
  • Management and meeting preparation

Result

A communication process that can be followed: contacts, responses, approvals and next steps documented at every point.

Deliverables

What the preparation actually produces.

Depending on the current position and the requirements of the project, we produce or rework the documents needed for professional external discussions and closer review. Company, project and financial information is structured consistently and aligned across every document.

Selected anonymised work samples. Company names, logos and contact details have been removed.

  • Pitch deck Sets out the central messages and the investment case for the opening discussion.
  • Executive summary Condenses the essential company, project and financing information into a compact form.
  • Key figures and information overview Brings the relevant figures and project information together consistently.
  • Communication material Provides a single basis for outreach, follow-ups and further questions.
  • Due diligence structure Orders the documentation, the state of information and the open points for closer review.

Network

A network built over years

Once the documentation holds, the question becomes who should see the project. Zumsteg Consulting maintains its own contact base and a wider network, and proposes counterparties suited to the project. Your company decides who is approached.

  • 28,000

    institutional investor contacts

held in the internal contact base

  • 6,700

    start-up investors

    held in the contact base

  • 40,000

investor contacts in the wider network

    reachable through partners and platforms

As at September 2026

These figures describe the size of the contact base. They say nothing about results, about commitments, or about whether a financing comes about. No one is approached before documented approval by the client.

The projects we work on

When working together makes sense.

Our work begins where a financing project is already concrete but the foundations for a professional investor approach still have to be structured, completed or prepared.

To take on a project we need a starting point we can work from, reliable company and financial information, and clarity on the capital requirement and the intended use of funds.

Submit a project

  • The project is concrete

The project, the financing requirement and the intended use of funds are defined, or can be established reliably from the information available.

  • The commercial basis exists

Current company and financial information is available, or can be provided for the work ahead.

  • Management is ready for the process

Contacts, documentation and the necessary approvals are available for the preparation and for the discussions that follow.

Common questions

Questions about working together

Which companies is this intended for?

Companies and project owners preparing a financing project in a structured way, who can provide the information, documentation, contacts and approvals the work requires. The scope of a mandate follows the position the project is in.

Which information and documents are required?

Typically company information, financial and operating figures, business plans, budgets, forecasts, the intended use of funds, existing presentations and further project material. The exact scope is defined per project.

Which documents can be produced or reworked?

Depending on the mandate: pitch deck, executive summary, presentation and information material, key-figure overviews and supporting communication documents, either produced from scratch or reworked in substance.

How does a mandate run?

In three connected phases: strategy and project structure, documentation and due diligence readiness, then go-live and communication. Each phase builds on the work of the previous one.

How is outreach organised?

Zumsteg Consulting can propose possible recipients on the basis of general, project-related criteria. The client decides which people or companies are approached. Recipients, templates and documents are approved in documented form before use.

Who negotiates and who decides?

Investment and financing negotiations, decisions and contract closings take place directly between the client or the issuing entity and the third party concerned.

Which services does Zumsteg Consulting not provide?

No legal or tax advice, no audit services, no personal investment advice, no asset management, no investment or transaction broking, and no placement of financial instruments as a standalone service. No investor funds or investment orders are accepted.

What does an international mandate cover?

The central investor-facing documents are produced in German and English. The English version is written for an international counterparty in language and in substance; it is not a literal translation.
